Today's Big Taste is at Parc Brasserie, a restaurant serving up French casual and fine dining. It is located two stores down from Tutti Frutti on 16th Avenue SW.
Foodie tip: there's free parking in the alley behind 17th Avenue.
Quickly came the main course, fluffy omelette alongside some crispy fingerling potatoes and shallots. The earthy flavours of the mushrooms comes through the omelette and the crispy shallots takes the dish to another level. The only thing I would change about the omelettes are that I would cook it a little less and drizzle white truffle oil on top.
The first course Parc offered for Big Taste ($15) is a mixed greens salad. Tossed in a light vinaigrette, the apple added a decent sweet and sour to the salad. The toasted pumpkin seeds added a nice crunch and flavour to the dish, a refreshing way to start lunch!
To finish, we had warm baked madeleines. I heard that the madeleines from Parc are amazing, and they are! Crispy on the outside, pillowy on the inside with hints of lemon, it was definitely worth the hype.
